Your Calling Guide

many of us are living automated lives...

Happy Monday!

Much of what we discuss here is directly impacted by the ability to discover and pursue your calling—what you were born to do. Think of it as a purpose so unique that if you don’t fulfill it, you’ll have missed the mark your creator set for you, resulting in a life that feels lacking.

When it comes to finding your calling, I like to think about what popular American writer Robert Greene calls "Life’s Task." Some people refer to it as “purpose.” However you name it, your calling is uniquely yours.

Recently, I read a thought-provoking email by Dan Koe, discussing what he called a "worldwide disease of lack of meaning." From what I learned, many of us are living automated lives, detached from what we were designed to do. Ignoring our calling, he suggests, is the route of our lack of life enjoyment.

This is always a heated topic. I remember back in January 2023, when I spoke to a Nairobi-based philosophy group called Crowd Philosophy on this very subject—everyone had their own perspective on what calling means. Personally, I’ve found deep and foundational insights from The Art of Manliness podcast, and I invite you to indulge in it too.

Finding your calling often involves reflecting on your childhood, assessing your natural abilities, and examining life's significant challenges—loss, hardship, and other defining moments.

To dive deeper into how we can find and live our calling, check out The Art of Manliness podcast for more wisdom. And yes, ladies are absolutely welcome to listen too!
