Why people don't write.
I just finished playing a game of chess against a machine and got the inspiration to write today's very short email while at the kitchen counter serving myself a cup of white tea.
The sun has just set here in Red hills of Kiambu. And while I write this now, I am also showing you my esteemed reader and subscriber how random writing inspiration normally comes.
If you are anything like me, you can intentionally find writing inspiration from randomness. You don't sweat when it comes to finding whats on your mind and writing about it. That's the kind of people I attract here! Intelligent and high IQ people!
Anyway, I was thinking how writing relates to thinking. And I think I have talked about this before. But no harm in repeating. Writing emanates from good thinking. It is really just like thinking itself.
Humans as you know them, and as we have been taught by the late great Earl nightingale, do not simply think.
We can also say that many people cannot just write and communicate well. Even at places like universities, few people few people do the writing and thinking required of them.
Now, there are several reasons to this human’s inability to write. Its because most of us never feed our minds the food to help us think. It's because we don't train our minds to focus for even as little as the one hour I am using to write and send you this email.
What then are those things that feed our minds to help us think and write better?
Reading.
Taking walks and observing people.
Having moments of reflection.
Asking deep questions.
Listening to shows and watching documentaries.
Of all these these mind foods, I find reading to be the best. Which is totally in my biasness.
I know Listening to shows and watching documentaries, having moments of reflection, asking deeper questions and observing people while walking can all stir thoughts. However, reading is better because you are able to think usinfg omeone's efforts, by simply following what it took them years to write.
I challenge you to read and see how writing is going to be much easier. You can read articles, novels or any book you like.
This mind food of reading is what brings me to the weeks offer. Something I've been offering you for the past 3 weeks, but I'll shamlessly offer it again.
How to Read a Book. I made this guide I with the beginner reader in mind. If you want to master the art of reading and uncovering valuable lessons from books and then being able to write about it, you’re going to love this.
Now, of course this guide is not free. But don’t worry, you won’t go broke buying it.
Only 5 dollars for my worldwide buddies. And a very very…. very small KES389 for my local readers.
