Thank you Nick, much appreciated.
July tenth was the birthday of my favourite writer and business man whose name I am not going to mention today.
And the most interesting thing is that I also was celebrating my birthday on that very same day.
In short, we are moving closer to death on the same day.
Anyway.
I am subscribed to his newsletter and I normally receive and read his emails daily.
So what did I do?
I bought one of his books. Read it and while halfway, I replied to his email with a couple of quick lines and wished him a happy birthday. I also let him know that we shared birthdays.
A show of gratitude on my side reciprocated by gratitude from him in the reply he sent me afterwards.
The day that followed I woke up to his reply since we live in different time zones that are far apart. He replied. And what did he say?
Thank you Nick, much appreciated.
A simple line. But it reminded me the importance of written communication. Not just the big polished pieces. Even the small notes.
The ones where you say what you mean. The ones where someone responds.
So go and send someone a message and see how they respond. THE END.
P.S
If you’ve got thoughts in your head that need to find the page, Writer’s Rites is the quiet space to begin.
It’s on offer this week and it will help you get words out of the brain to the page so that you do not struggle with getting words that communicate.
Go here to try it today before it disappears on Monday.
