I don't have anything common with these men anymore...
Loyal Nick's Letters reader and supporter whose name I won't mention was with me on the phone a while ago and we talked a lot about the plight awaiting modern men who refuse to walk the difficult and dark path of holistic development and individuation.
Development specifically for men is on the rise these days.
The most popular community focused on it is called Warriors, led by Amerix. He is revered by millions of men from Kenya and beyond for his stoic philosophy.
I like to think the name Warriors draws from one of the most influential masculinity books ever written: King, Warrior, Magician, Lover by Robert Moore and Douglas Gillette, published in 1990.
The authors argued that every man carries four archetypes for conquering the world. Look at archetypes as universal patterns of thought or behavior that influences how all men see and experience the world. You can be a warrior, a lover, a magician or a king. And you can still be a mix of all these thing
Despite the fact that Warriors by Amerix is helping men, a deeper look and you can see that the community is based mostly on delusional masculine bravado. Yes, that is an essential thing for healing and growth of men, but limited to some degree.
A holistic man must nurture not just the warrior but the other three sides as well. Ignoring them is not a wise choice.
If you are a man and you dare to see yourself as more than just a warrior, you set yourself apart. You become rare. You might even find you no longer have anything in common with the men around you.
As you transcend, you might want to tell yourself, I don't have anything common with any of these men
So what can make you different?
The Lover – The ability to integrate your feminine side and connect deeply with women.
The Magician – The ability to create something out of nothing with ease.
The King – The ability to build an empire and rule it with wisdom.
And do not get me wrong. The philosophy of Amerix is not bad. Some of the warriors lessons overlap with the king, lover and magician. But delusional masculine bravado and stoicism are only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to a man’s true development.
Today I want to encourage modern men to see beyond the warrior. Step into the lover, magician and king. This is the path to thriving and growing fully.

They’re called Support Cards. Nick's letter support cards are small, one-time ways to show love for the work I share here.
Each card represents a contribution to this writing journey, and to the ideas I try to explore: self-employment, freedom, craft, clarity... and all the rough roads in between.
There are three support cards. A black one, a silver one and a gold one.
The black support card is low tier and you can buy it at only KES157.
