What Is In My Digital Library
The Resources On My Phone That Inspire My Writing Practice.
My friend.
I am off the ground working to stay up and keep rising.
Last week, a business owner talked to me. And he was telling me that my writing has massively improved. He thinks my writing is becoming bigger than myself from the mere fact that I send these letters to a growing audience. And that these letters pack in a lot of value too.
Surely, those are humbling words.
And now let me tell you this.
You and I are well on our way to making an impact with this club.
I appreciate you being part of this.
Anyway…
I hope you had a good week.
Now. Today, I woke up feeling so bad.
For the past two days, I have had this mad flu which also gives me a fever and headache in the morning
However, this morning has been better than yesterday.
Thankfully, the bad feeling normally goes away as soon as I get out of bed and take a walk outside in the cold Ruaka mornings.
You see what? I don’t swallow pills.
But I have my black seed oil which I swallowed right before sitting here. On top of that, on the right-hand side of my desk is a steaming cup of black ginger tea. That is what is firing up my body this morning.
Now listen.
Writing always feels hard when I am just starting.
Because you know what my friend? I don’t spend the week creating a draft for these letters. I normally get inspiration the night before and get straight to writing when I wake up.
Anyway…
There was a nationwide power outage in my country over the weekend. It all lasted for almost 20 hours (at least in my town.)
That meant there was no internet for some.
And no entertainment to most.
What I noticed was a lot of people complaining because of the suck that comes when there is no electricity.
On a personal note, I used that time to stay away from devices. I sat out in the sun chatting with a neighbor. I returned to the house and slept on the couch. I spent the entire time doing nothing productive apart from looking at some of my past journals, reflecting, and going through my list of curations.
Now from the power outage, what caught my attention was this: people dislike boring things.
People hate embracing the things that suck.
During the entire blackout time, many kept complaining of the boring feeling that comes without electricity.
Many were uneasy.
But I was not.
And I know such things are always meant to take away your attention from yourself.
But guess what? That was the best moment for me. A moment to observe how people behave. A moment to embrace the boredom and silence. And add some items to my digital library.
Anyway, the power outage is not what I am going to talk about in this letter.
What I am going to give you in this letter is an extra list of my curation. Remember the letter I wrote earlier on about where I get my ideas to write about?
Do you remember when I said this; Curate before you create? I hope you do my friend.
But the thing here is that before you start any daily or weekly writing practice, you have to build a library of books and works to refer to and inspire your ideas.
So while people kept whining about no electricity, I was lucky to have my phone well-powered. I looked back at what I have been reading over the past 3 years. Because they can take away the electricity. They can take away the entertainment. But what they can’t take away is your digital library. So today I am going to share mine with you.
So here are 6 extra resources to help you dig into my writing and even inspire you to learn more and create more. Because I know you are reading this so that you can become more knowledgeable.
The resources I am going to share with you are about marketing, philosophy, and psychology.
They are not shallow.
Trust me, they are not common in the mainstream media.
Okay, let’s begin.
The first resource is called hard-to-find seminars. Hard to Find Seminars is a site for free marketing interviews and info. It is a goldmine for marketers. Believe me when I say that you don’t need a 4-year uni degree to learn marketing if you have this. If you are new to marketing like myself, you are going to get your eyes opened to secret classic marketing ideas that work. You can begin charging local businesses for marketing consultation once you learn and understand some of the lessons in Hard To Find Seminars.
And the best part is that it is all free.
Because people barely treat free things seriously, I urge you to be serious about the lesson you are going to get. Head over to hardtofindseminars.com and see it for yourself. Make sure to get what is relevant to you because marketing is so big. And apply those lessons to your marketing.
Second.
A man called Daniel Kahneman. Daniel is a psychologist well known for his contributions to behavioral economics. Author of the famous book ‘Thinking Fast and Slow.’
What is behavioral economics?
To quote Street Mojo: Behavioral Economics aims to understand economic decisions made by humans by combining elements of psychology with classic economics. This branch of economics looks into how and why people arrive at their economic choices, how they differ from rational choices, and find the implications they have on various aspects of life.
Now as a marketer, you need to be able to understand how and why people make their economic decisions. You need to understand why people buy and spend. You are going to learn a lot from Kahneman’s lectures which can be found free on YouTube. Head over to your Google search and educate yourself. Or buy his books.
Moving forward.
Academy of Ideas is the third resource. Academy of Ideas is focused on helping humans free their minds from the shackles of society. It has articles from free to paid ranging from topics on philosophy and psychology. Won’t tell you much. Because its tagline speaks for itself. And that is; free minds for a free society. Check out youtube channel here.
The fourth resource is called the worldwide shadow. This is a blog. This blog is almost similar to Academy of Ideas. Here you find information to help you understand the darkness of the world and how the problems and trauma we face today originate deeper than the sources we believe and think. There is a series of articles providing a deeper psychological understanding of what's playing out on the world stage.…go to worldwideshadow.com to see it for yourself.
The fifth resource is called Corporate Machiavelli. Corporate Machiavelli has 55 essays on dark psychology and manipulation to help you understand the people around you. It is perfect for those still under employment because it helps a lot with understanding office politics. Also great for understanding family politics. Head over to the website to see it for yourself.
Lastly. Jordan Peterson. You might have heard about this man. He is a Canadian clinical psychologist. But worry not. To me, he speaks the things I wish my father told me when I was in my teenage and early twenties. Growing up without any, I find his advice on life fit for those looking to cultivate personal responsibility and lead a meaningful life. And don't get me wrong. His ideas are not for boys or men alone. Women are doing so well with this knowledge also. His book called The 12 Rules of Life is a great place to start. But if you don’t have the money to buy, check out his YouTube channel for a wealth of knowledge. I see Jordan Peterson as the modern Carl Jung. And if you want to understand your dark sides and integrate into wholeness, listen to this man. He’s the Doc. He’s got the medicine.
Ok there you go, my friend.
Let me wind down by telling you that for you to write, you need to build your own library.
I have shown you mine.
And I hope you find some value.
I am stopping here because I have some other work. Receive my letter with love and open-mindedness. BE well. Until next time. Peace.
