These 6 hard and ugly truths will give you moments of reflection.
Happy Monday fam!
There is nothing soft about truth. Truth normally hurts and offends people. However, it does not mean that living according to reality is impossible. Yes, truth may be hard and ugly, but it is the most powerful state of human life.
As the masses keep drowning in misinformation and lies, taking time to sit down and reflect is now more than essential. Reflection is the single most mind freeing technique you can use to see through the confusion in society. In today’s letter, we look at 6 bitter realities to help us reflect and free our minds from society.
Let us get to work!
Softness and therapy culture is toxic.
The wellbeing of people and the way they reduce stress is now a popular thing. We are being told that we are traumatized and have countless mental illness. And to counter that, we are told to take things easy. As if things should be easy, omg!
Even though everyone has underlying traumas, we are not as broken as we estimate. Many people like to blame their problems on mental issues. One thing people forget is that suffering and going through hardships is the price of being a human being. And so, life is supposed to be hard and there’s nothing you can do apart from becoming strong.
The promotion of softness and and therapy is the real toxic culture.
Gyms are dying.
I used to make the assumption that gyms were places for people to fix their body and reap the benefits that comes with it like having a strong and calm mind. Seems I am checkmated. I belong to a gym and let me tell you this: Gym goers cannot stop loosing themselves in bad habits like scrolling during workouts and drinking alcohol while in the gym.
I feel that they would rather stay at home and do all that. One dark reality is that the human mind is under direct attack from many corners of society. And going to the gym offers us the time to be away from the noise and work on your body. This type of work has been found to bring more benefits that transcend the body. Truly, gyming has mental and spiritual benefits. And so, phones are best put away during workouts. Alcohol should never be found in gyms. But this is rare nowadays and may never happen.
A KES100,000 per month salary is one of the saddest existences.
Gen Z who are just getting started with work think that 100k is a lot of money. Not if you are living in a big city, having a family and siblings. 100k is not that much! Surely, 100k can give you a good, safe and warm life. However, it can trap you from exploring to explore your curiosity, and then making you miserable with time.
The truth is that a salary traps the mind. But we now have access to ways to alter our minds even while still earning that salary. You can start thinking in the way of a side business of freelancing, or consulting. With time, you start seeing the opportunities to make that 100k on your own instead of waiting for your boss to give it to you.
A lack of meaning and purpose is the silent pandemic.
The problem is not viruses and wars and floods. The problem is that most people do not have a personal mission in life. Many have not discovered their life task.
We just have a tendency to be outraged by external things. While paying less attention to our growth. People becoming homeless has nothing to do with your life. People dying in road crash has nothing to do with us.
Such things do not matter. Because they steal your attention making you a vessel of other people’s mission while forgetting yourself. Finding meaning and purpose of your life shields you from the manipulations of society. And so a majority of people in society are living automated lives-the real pandemic.
There’s nothing like climate change.
There is no urgency in issues relating to climate change. Most of us have not realized this yet. Most people think that it is a crisis that requires immediate action. Hahaha! Many think that the earth is going to be filled with water. Yet, extreme weather is part of the natural phenomenon of mother earth.
When you examine the facts, you’ll learn that there has never been such a thing like climate change. There is no climate change. There is certainly never going to be a climate change. You only hear about climate change because the mainstream media talks about it.
Old-school life is better life.
Our grandparents were right. Look at modern life. Sleep problems. Junk diet. Sedentary lifestyle. Ignorance. Broken relationships and families. Late night eating.
Seriously, most of us are overworked and constantly stressed. We live too fast and this takes a toll on our holistic health and wellness.
The old way was quite the opposite of all the above. Waking up early, sleeping early, staying out in nature. Reading books and learning skills. Time together with big families.
If my grandfather was alive, I would have confirmed with him that the new modern life is toxic.
The first step to freedom.
Stepping out of society to observe. Looking at things as they are and building mental strength to accept realities.
Until next week.
