2024 Wrap up Series.

Reflections on fitness, writing and marketing to set us up for a glorious 2025!

A good evening from the hills of Kiambu.

The tone and mood is right to begin 2024 reflections as promised in the Monday Issue. The Monday issue will still come to you as usual.

Anyway, I started writing this after returning from the riverside where I sat watching the sunset through the trees while lost in the sounds of nature. Then I got back home to bone soup and roasted maize. Crazy combo but I enjoy it!

This is part one of what is going to be a three part letter reflections to get us into 2025 in the right mindset, and on the right trajectory. Be my guest! I’ll cover fitness, writing and then marketing.

In this particular letter, we are going to start with fitness.

That is me in March as I try to adapt to the fact that the world will be waiting to see more of my body and mind.

Now, this year, I’ve noticed a shift.

When I walk into a room or down the street, people take a second look. But it’s not because I’m suddenly a different person—it’s the unmistakable confidence and terrific boy stature that comes from a relentless focus on an approach of physical fitness that I have been promoting and imposing on people like you. The fitness approach is called: strength training.

For me, fitness hasn’t been about chasing a number on a scale or aiming for some body goals. It’s been about strength. I am talking about pure, unadulterated strength on compound exercises like squat, benchpress and deadlift. Strength has been my single-minded focus. It has not only transformed my physique but also earned me compliments from boys and girls.

More importantly, I’ve seen how this simple, effective approach has inspired others to achieve their best as well. Look, boys have come to me and asked questions on how I achieved my current look. And I have been glad that, whenever I give them the medicine, it works for them. And they send me back messages reporting positive results. My fitness secrets are already working for boys and not to forget one or two sexy mamis who I have also helped with this classic knowledge. Oh god! Truly I am just being lazy, but I could be a coach or instructor if I wanted!

Being lean and strong isn’t just about putting in long hours at the gym as many would assume. I have times when I trained once a week. And as I write now, I haven’t stepped into the gym this entire December. But I have been doing home workouts and feeding good.

Being lean and strong is really about the discipline and mindset that you embrace. It’s about walking tall, not just physically but with the confidence that comes from knowing you’re on the right trajectory and doing the right thing every time you exercise. As I may have said before, I am always in violent disagreement with how people at the gyms I have been structure their fitness. It is like they just go online and start copying influencers with their few minutes videos. My violence also goes to how people treat their rest and recovery time and the kinds of food many eat. Most people also do not train their joints and heart. My approach in as much as is based on strength, I have mobility and cardio plans that I have automated in my life. For example, I do roadwork once a week and add mobility training also once a week. Mostly, I do mobility training on the day I run. Or sometimes alone!

Overall, all of us can see greater results if we focused on building our strength from bottom up.

That’s what I’ve learned this year, and it’s what I hope others can experience too.

2024 has been my best yet in fitness, but it’s just one piece of the bigger picture.
